Receipts, returns and gift cards

Check the return policy before you buy: many stores set 30- or 90-day windows, often printed on the receipt. Keep the receipt and the original packaging.
Without a receipt you will likely get store credit, often at the item's lowest sale price.
Buying gift cards from an exchange site? Read reviews and make sure the site guarantees the cards are valid.
