Which zones crews are working now
As of Oct. 22, the county lists these zones as active or up next for hauling:
- Crestview area: Zones 16 and 17
- South Okaloosa: Zones 34-40 and 42-46
The county’s zone map shows the zones. The county says zones are not exact pickup schedules. They reflect general progress, not dates for individual streets or neighborhoods, and crews may work in several zones at once.
Where to drop off debris for free
Residents can take debris to these citizen drop-off sites free of charge until 5 p.m. Oct. 25, according to the county’s EOC page.
| Area | Site | Address or location |
|---|---|---|
| North Okaloosa | Keyser Mill Pit, on Highway 4 between Keyser Mill Road and Hilton Road North | 5305 Keyser Mill Road, Baker, Fla. 32531 |
| South Okaloosa | Wright Landfill | At the end of North Beal Extension |
The EOC page does not say whether the sites will stay open after Oct. 25.
What residents should do with debris
The county asks residents to leave eligible storm debris at the designated collection location so it is ready when crews arrive. The county says not seeing crews yet does not mean a neighborhood has been missed.
Residents who live inside a city should check with that city. The county says cities are coordinating their own debris collection schedules.
