The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) unanimously approved two recovery measures after Hurricane Isaias, according to the county’s News Flash. The News Flash item does not say when the commissioners voted.

Where RVs and travel trailers can be used as temporary housing

The BCC approved permitting temporary living quarters, including recreational vehicles and travel trailers, in all zoning districts for one year during the Isaias recovery period. The county said this measure is similar to one the BCC approved after Hurricane Ivan. The News Flash does not say how residents apply or when the measure takes effect.

What homeowners’ associations must sign before private road debris removal

The BCC unanimously approved removing debris from privately maintained roadways, such as those in subdivisions, when the removal addresses a clear public health and safety need. Homeowners’ associations (HOAs) representing private or gated subdivisions or roads must sign a right-of-entry and hold-harmless form before Isaias debris can be removed from those properties. The county says the form is online at santarosa.fl.gov/PrivateRoadDebris.

Where to take vegetative debris in Santa Rosa County

The BCC also unanimously approved waiving fees for residential vegetative debris brought to the Central Landfill and Jay Transfer Station for an additional two weeks. The News Flash does not give start or end dates for the waiver. The county says residents can bring vegetative storm debris to three established locations around the county at no charge.

As of Oct. 20, 2026, the county’s Hurricane Isaias Update #18, posted Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m., says residents can dispose of vegetative debris at no cost at the Central Landfill, 6337 Da Lisa Road in Milton, Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The update also repeats the private-subdivision debris measure. Household garbage must be kept separate, and regular garbage collection continues on schedules set by residential waste providers.
