Santa Rosa County, Florida, has collected more than 350,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris left by Hurricane Isaias, according to Update #19 that the county posted Thursday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m. on its News Flash page. The county estimates the storm left 1.8 million cubic yards of debris, with an estimated removal cost of $23 million.
How much storm debris has Santa Rosa County collected?
The first pass of debris pickup began Wednesday, Oct. 14, on public, county-maintained roads. The county says it will make several passes. In a typical storm, crews need an average of three passes, but the county says this storm’s debris volume is far greater than usual, so crews will make as many passes as needed.
The county says residents will get advance notice before the final pass so they can place their debris for collection. The update does not give a date for the last pass. More detail is on the county’s debris information page.
