Black Friday 2026 in Destin and the Emerald Coast: dates, centers and what to check
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday, Nov. 26, per the U.S. Office of Personnel Management federal holiday calendar. On the Emerald Coast the shopping weekend runs five days, from Thanksgiving night through Cyber Monday on Nov. 30, and Giving Tuesday follows on Dec. 1.
As of Nov. 2, 2026, none of the seven main shopping centers between Mary Esther and Panama City Beach had posted their 2026 Black Friday hours. Here is what is already certain: the dates, where the big centers are, what sales tax you will pay in each county and what Florida law says about returns.
When are Black Friday and Small Business Saturday in 2026?
| Day | Date | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thursday, Nov. 26 | Federal holiday; most centers announce whether they open that evening |
| Black Friday | Friday, Nov. 27 | Early openings and doorbuster sales |
| Small Business Saturday | Saturday, Nov. 28 | Shop at independent local stores |
| Cyber Monday | Monday, Nov. 30 | Online sales, including many local shops with web stores |
| Giving Tuesday | Tuesday, Dec. 1 | Donations to charities and nonprofits |
Because Thanksgiving comes late this year, there are only 28 days between Black Friday and Christmas, so the shopping weekend carries more weight than usual for gifts that need to be shipped.
Where are the main shopping centers on the Emerald Coast?
The Emerald Coast’s holiday shopping is spread across four counties. These are the centers our Black Friday store-hours page tracks:
| Center | City | County |
|---|---|---|
| Silver Sands Premium Outlets | Miramar Beach | Walton |
| Grand Boulevard at Sandestin | Miramar Beach | Walton |
| The Village of Baytowne Wharf | Miramar Beach | Walton |
| Destin Commons | Destin | Okaloosa |
| HarborWalk Village | Destin | Okaloosa |
| Santa Rosa Mall | Mary Esther | Okaloosa |
| Pier Park | Panama City Beach | Bay |
The Village of Baytowne Wharf has held a Black Friday sidewalk sale in past years. Individual stores inside each center often set their own opening times, so the center’s hours and a store’s hours can differ.
When will 2026 store hours be announced?
Each center announces its holiday hours on its own website. We will add each center’s 2026 hours to our store-hours page as soon as the center posts them, with the date we confirmed them. Until then, the listing says “Not announced yet” instead of guessing.
How much sales tax will I pay on Black Friday?
It depends on the county where you buy. Florida’s state rate is 6%, and each county adds its own surtax, according to the Florida Department of Revenue’s 2026 surtax table:
| County | Total sales tax |
|---|---|
| Okaloosa | 8% |
| Bay | 8% |
| Santa Rosa | 8% |
| Walton | 7% |
The county surtax applies only to the first $5,000 of a single item. On a $400 purchase, that is $28 in Walton County and $32 in Okaloosa or Bay.
Can I return a Black Friday purchase in Florida?
Under Florida Statutes 501.142, a store that does not give refunds or exchanges must post a “no refund” sign where you pay. If it does not post one, you can return an unused item with proof of purchase within seven days. Food, perishables and custom-made or custom-altered goods are exempt.
The Federal Trade Commission adds that many stores set 30- or 90-day windows, often printed on the receipt, and that without a receipt you will likely get store credit at the item’s lowest sale price.
What should I do before Black Friday?
- Check each center’s own website the week of Nov. 16 for 2026 hours.
- Keep receipts and original packaging for everything you might return.
- Ask for gift receipts; the window to return starts on the purchase date.
- Plan Small Business Saturday stops at independent shops in your own town.
