Santa Rosa County, Florida, collected $6,860,806.11 in Tourist Development Tax (TDT) from October 2025 through August 2026, according to the Santa Rosa County Clerk of Court’s TDT Monthly Analysis. The county’s tourism reports also call the TDT a bed tax. Data as of Oct. 18, 2026.
How much tourist tax has Santa Rosa County collected in 2025-26?
The Clerk’s table lists $6,860,806.11 for 2025-26 and $6,675,752.40 for 2024-25, and shows the difference as 3%. The 2025-26 column has monthly figures only from October through August. By our reading of the table, the $486,743.54 listed for September belongs to 2024-25, so the 3% compares 11 months with a full year. Our calculation of the same 11 months in 2024-25 ($6,189,008.86) puts 2025-26 about 11% higher.
July 2026 was the largest month at $1,403,874.86, 5% above July 2025. August 2026 brought $753,592.54, up 13%.
The Clerk’s note says figures for March through July 2025 were significantly affected by a temporary delay in on-time filings after the move to a new online filing system. Percentage changes for those months in the table are therefore unusual.
Which part of Santa Rosa County collects the most tourist tax?
Navarre Beach does. According to the Clerk’s TDT Remittance by Tax District report, Navarre Beach (tax district 10) remitted $768,286.53 of the $1,209,065.13 collected in June 2026. Gulf Breeze (district 1) remitted $109,844.42.
A tally of the report’s October 2025 through June 2026 columns shows Navarre Beach at $2,621,790.87 of $4,703,338.71, or 56%. Gulf Breeze totals $501,525.62, or 11%. The Holley/Navarre district (district 12) is listed separately and is not included in the Navarre Beach figure. The district report ends in June 2026.
Why do Santa Rosa County’s tourism reports show different visitor numbers?
The county’s two tourism reports use different periods and give different totals, and the figures should not be compared or combined.
| Report | Period | Visitors | Direct spending or impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Value of Tourism (source: DSG Research) | June 2025 to May 2026 | 1,008,700 | $431,615,000 direct visitor spending; $474,511,500 total economic impact |
| FY25 Tourism Impact Report (Tourist Development Office) | 2025 | about 1.4 million | $204 million direct economic impact |
The first report also counts 806,700 room nights, 3,700 local jobs and $16,647,200 in local taxes supported by visitors. It lists the beach as the top activity, at 73%. The FY25 report cites $6.68 million in TDT in one section and $6.67 million in bed taxes in another. The Clerk’s $6,675,752.40 for 2024-25 rounds to $6.68 million. Neither report explains how its method differs from the other’s.
What does the 5th penny of the tax pay for?
The FY25 report says the 5th penny of the TDT is set aside for beach renourishment. The Navarre Beach renourishment project was completed in January 2025, according to the same report.
What the documents do not say
The Clerk’s table does not include a September 2026 figure for 2025-26. The district report stops at June 2026. Neither document gives a reason for month-to-month changes beyond the filing-system note.
